Does flat ironing stunt hair growth?

I've read many times that people shouldn't flat iron their growing hair, but a reason is not really given other than that it is unhealthy.

Does flat ironing stunt hair growth, or just run the risk of making it frizzy, dry, and frail?

Thanks!

Does flat ironing stunt hair growth?

i don't think it stunts your hair growth all it does is makes your hair weaker and frizzier. Even if you use heat protectant it will still eventually get damaged just not as much.

Does flat ironing stunt hair growth?

no it just burns you hair and dries it out.

Does flat ironing stunt hair growth?

It does not stunt hair growth unless you burn your scalp, which causes trauma until the burn heals. Otherwise you just run the risk of drying out your hair if you do not moisturize and use protective oils or spray on your hair beforehand.

Does flat ironing stunt hair growth?

No it does not stunt hair growth. Hair grows at a steady rate no matter what you do to the hair you already have, which in essence is not "alive" anyway. It will suffer though from the effects of ironing.

It doesnt stunt your growth at all..Your not touching the iron to the hair follices within the root so you cant damage that part...the only damage you are getting is fraying the outer cuticle of the hairshaft....It does dry your hair out and make it weaker..buy a proctectant specificly for iron work to the hair..best protection if your going to flat iron.....

when you straighten your hair, it makes it become dry and unhealthy. this causes split ends which can make your hair . . . split! but, at the store you can buy products that you put on your hair before drying and straightening. they help protect your hair.

Does flat ironing stunt hair growth?

No, it doesn't stunt growth. Your hair grows from the root. Since a flat iron usually doesn't reach directly to the root (and even if it did, it doesn't close or damage the hair follicle).

The most that can happen is that the flat iron (like any heating elements used on the hair...I.E. Blow Dryer, Curling Iron, Hot comb, Hot Rollers, Etc.) will damage the hair if used too often or left on too long. If done right and the appropriate conditioners and protectants are applied to the hair pre-ironing, little damage will occur and the results will look great. Just don't over do it. Just make sure when you use the flat iron, place your hair between the plates, leave on only for a few seconds as you slide it down your hair. It doesn't take long to work and shouldn't be on the hair very long.

Flat irons are great! No! they do not stunt hair growth. However, if you do not get regular hair cuts they can cause breakage. When your hair looks frizzy on the ends, it is time for a trim. A great product to protect your hair while flat ironing is Matrix Sleek Look step 3 antihumectant spray or Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum.

applying heat to your hair frequently will cause your haie to adventually break off. Too much heat will dry your hair out it is not a good look try wrap lotions, mousse, and rollers. or just wrap it at night at use a scarf

2 wrap

brush the hair around the head until it is going around in a circle use pins to make it stay up.

No, It does not stunt hair growth. But should get regular hair cuts because the flat iron will cause breakage, so in order to keep your hair looking healthy trim your hair i would say every 1-2 months that's what i do i straighten my hair every 2 days.
