Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

Does braids really speed up hair growth or will hair grow at the same rate if you have no braids and a relaxer?

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

no

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

i've seen it happen. but it hasn't worked on me.

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

idk about the braids but a relaxer does not help your hair grow it makes it weak %26amp; brittle

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

yea it does. blunt honesy is wrong. it does.

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

I have never heard that before

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

if you keep the braids in a lot then it will help a little bit but I think making sure the hair is trimmed works the best.

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

no.

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

nothing can actually speed up the growth of your hair. some peoples hair just grows faster than others. and if you get braids done too tightly it can cause your hair to break off.

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

i always heard that if you tie ur hair too much it actually grows faster.

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

NO, AND IT HURTS LIKE HELL.

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

No but if you sleep in them it keeps it out of your face and alot less frizzy when you take them out in the morning.

I've never heard of them speeding up hair growth otherwise I would wear them everyday. My hair grows slow.

braids don't do anything like that...its just a way to style your hair...drink extra milk and in no time you should have long, healthy, shiny hair!

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

Hair growth is effected by good nutrition and by scalp stimulation. So if you've heard of this as a way to get your hair to grow faster, probably what is actually doing it is not the braiding process, but rather the stimulation (massage/brushing/combing) to the scalp that is part of the braiding process.

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

It speeds hair growth because it is not being bothered for a while - (comeing ,brushing) don't be bothered by the hair that comes out when yuo unbraid it because a humain loses (naturally) about 70 stands of hair a day so that naturall that come out.

Also yuo have less work to do- comeing (can't spell) yuor haei every day can get tiring

Well, when you braid your hair, the roots get stretched out a little bit more than usual and it softens up the hair follicles in order for them to grow at a faster rate. I know this because my hair is really long (almost down to my knees) and sometimes after I wear them in braids, I begin to see that my hair grows a bit longer and faster than usual.

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

Its not the braids that does it .Its the stimulation of you scalp from the extra attion tionSo you can just message your scalp and get the same resolts

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

yes it really does.

If you get them done right. Please, please please don't go to any African hair braiding place it will rip your hair out. The africans tend to braid hair too tight

They do not speed up hair growth. However, they do prevent you from doing things like curling with hot irons and using harsh styling products which my cause breakage. Everyone's hair grows about the same amount each month. Some people just have less breakage. Getting braids kind of gives your hair a rest. However, if you have color or relaxers be careful because the tension along with your hair already being in a weakened state could cause more damage. Oh and just so you know I'm licensed cosmetologist and instructor so this is accurate information. Hope it helps.

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

nope, all it does is makes your hair more porne to breakage.

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

contrary to popular belief, braids, and cutting your hair does not make it grow faster. while cutting you heair may get rid of slip ends and make your hair helthier, it does not make it grow faster. and braids, if you have a tender scalp, it just makes your head hurt

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

Yes hair can actually grow faster in braids compared to the regular rate without braids and just a relaxer...there are different reasons and it depends on the person..but top reason is that when hair is braided it is handled less (that is of course if you are properly taking care of the braids). Then another thing is the demarcation line..this applies to girls whose hair can only grow to a certain point (to shoulders, right past shoulders, etc.) Your hair can break at the point where it is constantly being "touched" by collar, constantly in same ponytail, etc.

Check the site below..it has further explanation on why it helps growth..

Well they say that added pressure on an area will stimulate faster cell growth, so I don't see why it wouldn't.

I mean, if your hair is in braids, the braids are causing more strain on the hair and adding pressure, right? So technically that should increase the cell growth.

I'm going to have to go against the norm here and say YES, braids do. But it may only be certain types of braids.

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

yes it helps in a way but u shoudlnt braid ur hair to much because ur hairline could get messed up. sometimes u should give ur hair a rest from braiding. sometimes trim the ends. braids will protect the hair from damage and split ends.

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

No braiding does not spead up the growth process. It does however force you to leave your hair alone. Over processing, constant fidgeting, and execessive styling can stress out your hair. That leads to thinning and cuticle damage. Braiding your hair gives your hair a chance to recup and grow at its own pace without being tampered with each day.

That's why people with dreadlocks and braids always seem to have thicker longer hair. They leave it alone and it grows healthier and strong... not particularly faster

Does braids really speed up hair growth....?

No, in general, hair grows at a constant rate. There is very little you can do to speed it up or slow it down. Having said that, a healthy balanced diet generally promotes healthy hair. Healthy hair will grow better.
