Prenatal Vitamins and Hair Growth...?

Now I know that prenatal vitamins are recommended for pregnant women, but I saw a question on here about hair growth and two people answered and stated that prenatal vitamins helps with hair growth, and you don't have to be pregnant to take them. So my question is: do prenatal vitamins actually aid with hair growth and would there be any side effects to taking them if you're not pregnant?

Thx to all for their INTELLIGENT answers in advance.

Prenatal Vitamins and Hair Growth...?

I didn't really find that it aided in my hair growth, but some people do. I guess it depends what you are lacking in your diet and if those things effect your hair.

There are no side effects to taking prenatal vitamins except the posibility of constipation. This occurs if the amount of iron is more than your body can handle and would go away when you stopped taking them.

Many doctors including mine recommend that every woman of child bearing age take prenatal vitamins daily. You never know when you might accidentally get pregnant and these vitamins have the proper amount of nutrients to prevent many birth defects that occur before many women even know they are pregnant.

Prenatal vitamins are on the pricey side though so do try to get a prescription from your Doctor if you can.

you can take them weither your pregnant or not. They are just like taking a multivitamin except they have extra folic acid which helps prevent birth defects in babies. Also you could take biotin which helps with nail and hair growth.

Prenatal Vitamins and Hair Growth...?

OK...they now sell them over the counter...and they do help hair and nail growth. But PLEASE...ask a doctor 1st!? I do think it can hurt you.

Prenatal Vitamins and Hair Growth...?

I'm taking prenatal vitamins now I'm nursing I'm not sure they help to much with hair growth. I just heard on BET to eat gelatin the protein in it helps with hair growth also look on http://www.ultrablackhair.com/News.html. Me and my best friend just got off the phone talking about this. Good Luck.

Prenatal Vitamins and Hair Growth...?

From what I know, I think that prenatal vitamins and the change in hormones when you are pregnant is what causes your hair and nails to grow. They are just vitamins, there shouldn't be any side effects unless your diet is high in something that is high in the vitamins you may end up with too much of certain things in your system, like potassium (helps with muscle contraction). I wouldn't really recommend taking them unless advised by a doctor

Prenatal Vitamins and Hair Growth...?

You sound like me!!! I think I tried just about everything to make my hair grow about 4 years ago with no results and it was so depressing. But 2 years ago when I became pregnant with my daughter, my hair grew extremely fast while I was taking prenatal vitamins. So I didn't know if it was the pregnancy or the vitamins. But now, my daughter is one and I'm still taking the vitamins and my hair isn't growing as fast, but its growing fast and is really strong and not breaking off anymore... that's better than before! You should try a deep conditioner, especially if you have a relaxer. I have this motions conditioner called deep critical repair or something like that. Its in the same container like the motions relaxer. I leave it on for about 30 minutes with a grocery bag on my head. It sounds stupid but after you use this and dry your hair, you will notice when you run your hand through your hair, it doesn't come out anymore. Also, try not to put a lot of heat on your hair and use a heat protecting spray. I try to condition my hair once a week now, although it sometimes hard.

I hope I didn't write too much but just try it and tell me how it works. Good luck!

Prenatal Vitamins and Hair Growth...?

about hair .... pregnancy....... prenatal vitamins

if you are in an overall good health condition, your hair grows average 1/2 to 1and 1/2 inch , a month no matter what,

depending on meny things like genatics,deit........thats a fact

but to make hair grow longer you have to make your anagen phase longer "the phase where hair grows in the hair cycle"

when a women is pregnant all hair is locked in anagen phase due to hormonal changes whether or not she was takeing prenatal vitamin ,but vitamins will make it grow healthier.

"The hair growth phase (anagen phase) is one of three phases (growth, resting, and shedding) your hair goes through during its cycle. For example, a person with a 2 year anagen may only grow hair to their shoulders before it enters the resting phase. On the other hand, a person with a 4 year anagen will grow hair down their back before it enters the resting phase"

I'm not telling you to get pregnant

there is a suplement called "MSM" its combined with silica or horse tail a food suplement for hair growth it keeps hair in anagen phase, I'm taking it scince 1 month.......its amazing

prenatal vitamins are not harmful at all ....you can understand that scince its prescibed for pregnant women, its the most critical sinsitve case, as long as you dont exceed the recomended dose

vitamins are good for hair should be taken naturally with food but because most of our diet is overprocessed ....not much of the healthy stuff is left in it

so what i think is supplementary vitamins are recomended for good health ofcourse with no side effects

but if you are so worried about it you can always ask your doctor

I'm takeing my vitamins scince 1 year now my hair gorws healthy from the roots

healthy hair wont break and grow longer

other thing to maintain hair growing is to understanding you hair type and treating it right so it doesnt break

so you see if hair minimum growth is 1/2 inch "from the roots " every month

you will get 6 inch minimum at the end of the year if you treat it right and prevent brakage

i mean by moisturizers protein treatments,......

I was struggling to grow my hair scince forever but last year i found this website

growafrohairlong.com

now my hair is growing and i love it because the web had so meny tips on how to grow hair , i dont know why the link is not active any more but any way just search the net there are always helpfull info that you dont expect.
