tinting the hair does not prevent growth... the hair grows regardless of coloring... you will have regroth and the roots will be your natural hair colour... usually regroth needs to be touched up once monthy to avoid having that line of demarcation

oh, and if you want your hair to go back to brown don't bother using brown dye over black... haircolor will not lighten other hair colour... it only lifts natural pigment, either let it grow out or have a professional do a corrective color service for you

no it won't stunt your hair growth. Yes you'l get brown roots, black top. Dyeing it back will be a pain and harmfull on your hair cause you'll have to bleach, then dye. I did this, ended up with orange hair.

It'll grow back with brown regrowth but you can always touch it up with black dye :D

if you used a low cost die then they contains H2O2 hydrogen peroxide which will permanently Fed the color of your hair and they will become white if you r using a costly die then these things will happen with a slow rate

Don't worry it will grow and since you don't like the brown why would you want it to grow? The top of your hair will be brown when it grows out. Remember you dyed it BLACK that would mean it stays black on the ends.

No it should grow the same as before. In fact you should be able to see how fast it does grow. With your hair being all black the new growth will be brown, in a few days you will see the new brown hair growth coming in. no it wont stunt the growth but it will be really hard to color over! i dyed my hair black alot in the pass and when i wanted to color a light shade or any other shade it won't hold the color! i was at the salon for almost 4 hours to strip all the black off my hair!
