I have straight hair. I always have hairdressers commenting on how they love my hair, it is so soft and shiny, and thicker than it looks especially for a blond person. I am 27 and have noticed over the past 6 months that I've had chunks of new hair growth in my centre part, and it is coarse and brittle-feeling, completely different from my regular hair. It looks like it was crimped and like it's dry and damaged. (I don't use hair products, I only blow-dry my hair.)
What is this from? I haven't changed my diet or anything. I hope my whole head doesn't grow into that gross hair. Has this happened to anyone else?
New hair growth in centre part is coarse?
I had this problem, and I totally moisturized like crazy. Put conditioner in your hair when it is dry, because your hair absorbs water and don't get the full effect of the conditioner when it is wet. So.... put GOOD conditioner in for about 5 minutes before you shower, and do it like 3 times a week. But, it still takes awhile.

It could be from you getting older or even stress. I had my brown hair start to go light then almost translucent and back again when I was going through a very hard time. Let it grow some and see if it works it self out to how your other hair is, it may just be that is how your hair starts out and you just never noticed before. Or you may have to face your pretty hair is changing some.
