Y'know, I used to take it years ago.....and I cant say that it did much for hair (at least for me), but boy it made my fingernails strong....too strong...they became brittle after a while and would break all the time....

When taking biotin, take the sublingual (under the tongue) kind - its really hard to find - - but the type in a pill is broken down into three different amino acids by your stomach....it will never get into your bloodstream as biotin if you take it as a pill - - try to find the lozenges if yuo are interested in it.

I hear this question in my health food store all the time. The biggest contributor to hair loss or slow growth is too much caffeine. It causes the body to not recover b-vitamins.

Biotin is is very good as long as you give up caffeine. It does not breakdown into amino acid because it is not a protein. Biotin is the base molecule and is absorbed as such. There are many kinds like lozenges, capsules and tablets. I would suggest a Hair, Skin and Nails vitamin. It has all of the vitamins including biotin. Go to your local health food store and ask for a good Hair, Skin and Nails vitamin. It should cost you between $9-$15 depending on the number of capsules.
