Female. 30. Why hair growth on chin and jawline?

Lots of very fine hair growth on chin/jaw line--Never had hair growth until now.

You can't tell by looking at me b/c it's extra fine and light colored--I guess like peach fuzz. I have dark hair but use benzoyl peroxide often for my acne and I guess that's the reason for the light color.

What's causing this? Are my horemones off? Will it keep growing? I don't want to be one of those ladies with a beard and have to shave. What can I do?

I have no kids and I've never taken birth control before. Do you think taking birth control pills will help?

Sounds like you have a hormonal imbalance. A good friend of my wife had the same problem and it got progressively worse until she went to the doctor. They put her on hormone supplements and it cleared up in no time at all. It's not uncommon and easily treatable.

Are you overweight? This is a sign of hormonal imbalances, and also will keep you from conceiving if you are planning on having children. Usually this could be an indication of a few things: 1) you are on the verge of Type II diabetes; 2) you are borderline or have polycystic ovarian syndrome; 3) you have a hormonal imbalance in which you testosterone levels are elevated. You need to go chat with your doctor. The Dr. can run blood work to eliminate some of the possibilities. Oh, %26amp; do NOT shave it. It will grow back thicker everytime! Like man whiskers!
