yes it does help.. cos when u braid ur hair, it streches ur hair (or rather pull ur hair) from ur scalp, result in making the hair grow faster.. pulling too hard will damage the scalp though.

when the hair is braided it well be protected and resting for a long time 4-6 weeks , less manipulation is better for curly hair type 3 and 4 ..... and its really important to keep the braids moisturized every day and deep conditioned every week ..

the less you comb and brush your hair the less hair breakage you have. but if you keep your hair braided to long of a period of time or too tight especially around the hairline it will cause hair breakage and bald spots.
