Healthy Hair & Growth?

As a child i had really, really, really long healthy hair. But then i became a teenager and started dying and cutting my hair like a crazy person lol.

Now coming into adulthood, i'm trying to get back my healthy head of hair and grow it SUPER LONG! I started by cutting most of the damaged hair off back in May of this year, to a shoulder length. Since, it has grown to about my bra strap.

My hair is super curly and a bit on the dry side. Is there any advice (especially from people who have the super long manes) on growing long, healthy hair?

Thanks...Brittz

Don't cut your hair every 6-8 weeks! You'll be cutting your growth away. Normally hair only grows an inch or a little more a month. Best bet would be to try to keep it up as much as possible (ie buns!) That way your ends are protected and les likely to split. You should buy a pair of hair scissors and dust your ends. What this means is you physically look thru the ends of your hair, if you see a split, nip it off!! Also, try to take a mulit vitamin and biotin... it helps with healthy hair growth. Use a warm oil treatement 2x a week with regular olive oil and try conditioner only washes ... meaning no shampoo, believe me, your hair will get clean. Ummm... what else?? Oh! lay off the heat, try to air dry as much as possible and no heating tools while your hair grows out.

If you really want to grow long healthy hair then you can trim a 1/2 in. every six weeks and do deep conditioners once a week and make sure you use professional products. Also, you can use a UV protectant on it everyday. It sounds like allot, but it depends on how dedicated you are to your cause.

The best thing you can do for your hair is to trim it every 6 to 8 weeks at least 1/4 of an inch. Condition daily and do oil treatments every 12 weeks. If you don't color or highlight it, it should grow out healthy. You could also brush it at night so it can stimulate your scalp and help it grow faster.

out of experience(had the same problem) I'd advise you to trow bergemot essence(comes in a tiny bottle, essence has a yellow color) into your conditioner that you use.for best result leave it on for 30min-60min. trust me it really works. if i don't use it, my hair shows it. i speeds up growth and protects your hair and gives the scalp moisture. you can get it from your nearest drug store.

just another tip try to refrain from using heat on your hair as much as you can.try to let your hair dry naturally, and to refrain from breakage don't comb your curly hair when its dry only when wet,if possible only with conditioner. rather use mouse than gel,gel tends to leave your hair dry which increases breakage.
