I'm 13 years old and I'm looking for faster hair growth. Prenatel Vitamins?

I was browsing through the answered questions reguarding "faster hairgrowth." Many people insisted taking Prenatel Vitamins will work wonders. I told my mom about this and she laughed in my face. She said you have to be pregnant to take them and she thinks that they can hurt me..

Are they safe to take just for faster hair growth if you're NOT pregnant?

Thanks in advance.

I'm 13 years old and I'm looking for faster hair growth. Prenatel Vitamins?

Ok, let me explain this, many people are under the wrong impression about this topic. Prenatal vitamins will ONLY make your hair grow stronger and only IF you are already lacking what they can offer you. If you eat fairly healthy you should not be lacking any vitamin to a degree where your hair is not growing at its optimum speed, especially at 13 years! They will not make any difference in your situation whatsoever unless your overall hair length is increasing so slowly due to consistent breakage at the ends and then after taking vitamins for years, you will reap the benefits of the healthier hair growing longer because it doesn't break off as early. Few people have hair that breaks in this way, however, and of those people, even fewer or them have the problem due to nutritional deficiency which supplementation is capable of interfering with. Every hair type even at peak health has a certain length it is capable of growing before the elements damage it to the point that it splits and breaks off.

The reason this myth is spread so virulently is because most people take prenatal vitamins around the time of pregnancy, when a very unusual thing happens to the body which CAN alter the actual speed that the hair follicles grow hair, hormones! The hormones that fluctuate during pregnancy do (in most cases) dramatically speed up the growth of hair, as hormones are responsible for the initiation of most bodily functions. They also are responsible for other weird things that can happen during pregnancy, such as melasma, nausea, and can have an effect on the severity of stretch marks as well. Some of these things are not very desirable as you can see.

I will tell you one thing you can do to speed up your genetically predetermined hair growth to optimum potential: 20 minutes of gentle scalp massage every day will increase blood circulation to the scalp and can slightly increase the rate at which your hair grows. It is not very noticable, however relaxing it is, but if you have the time, it will help and is good for many other reasons as well. Use you fingertips, not your nails to preserve skin health.

You should take a good bio-available multi-vitamin every day, however, I would not suggest prenatals. Unless you are growing a baby, you do not need hundreds of times of the recommended daily allowance of vitamins, and too much of anything will eventually be bad for you. Even water soluble vitamins can cause problems (i.e. diarrhea) and jfyi, fat solubles can be very destructive because they take much longer for your body to be rid of in excess. So be safe an do not cause your young body problems for a reason you will not even see benefit from. This is not to mention that prenatal vitamins can be extremely rough on the stomach since they take so much effort to break down. I have a strong stomach, and I had a very difficult time keeping mine down when I was pregnant. I never had morning sickness other than when I took them. I took a dose once when I was not pregnant and I had the same reaction as well, so I wouldn't recommend them. If you still feel the esire to take them, please at least educate yourself an google vitamin overdosing or other similar search queries.

Yes, my dear, people will 'swear' by this idea, but do not listen to them, if you do not believe me, please for your own safety, go talk to someone who you can check the credentials of instead of listening to these horrid mythical, dangerous, and false beauty advise. You do not have to be pregnant to get many of them, however, but they are expensive. There are prescription strength vitamins, so your mother is not wrong, just not entirely right. She is right, however, about the important fact they can be dangerous to your health.

Hope I helped fully answer your question.

actually they do work to make your hair grow longer. and you don't have to be pregnant to take them actually women are supose to take them for a long time before you even get pregnant just to be healthy but never take more than one a day otherwise it's not good for you. and taking more than one a day doesn't make it grow faster.

Pre-natal vitamins are formulated for pregnant women to specifically provide them with the extra vitamins they need during pregnancy. Vitamins should only be taken if you have a deficiency in your diet, since too much of some vitamins can actually cause you to get sick. I wouldn't advise taking any vitamin without the approval of your doctor.
